July 24th - A Non-Traditional Conference Meet
The current pandemic has changed the way we do many things and it has affected the way we will do some things for the upcoming summer swim season. In the past all teams in the Tri-County Conference would gather at a single location to compete in a 2 day end of season conference meet. Unfortunately the pandemic is not going to let us all gather for this large event in which over 2000 people would attend during the course of a weekend.
As a conference we wanted to be able to give our swimmers an end of the year competition but needed to do it differently than it has been done in the past. We hope to get back to our regular conference meet in 2022, but for 2021 we will hold a non-traditional conference meet in the form of 4 dual meets held at 4 different 25m conference team pool locations. The dual meets will be based off the final standings from 2019 conference meet. For Baraboo this means we will face off in a dual meet against Spring Green on the morning of July 24th. When the meets are completed, the results from all 4 dual meets will be combined and a final results sheet will be shared. The top 16 places will receive awards. The top 3 places will be awarded medals and places 4-16 will be awarded ribbons. There will be no team trophies presented this year.
The matchups for this non-traditional conference will be: Sun Prairie vs Cross Plains, Sauk Prairie vs Mt Horeb, Baraboo vs Spring Green and Mazomanie vs Wisconsin Dells.
We know this isn't the way it should be but as a conference we hope it will give our swimmers something to look forward to, at the end of a season that is different than past years. These are challenging times and we appreciate the support as we continue to work towards getting back to a normal summer swim season again soon.
